Back To The Future: IDW International Editions

IDW Publishing authorized other publishers to publish the comics in other countries around the world. This is a gallery of what is known to exist as of now. HUGE thanks to my friend Dexter SherloConan for providing me all of the covers and information for this whole gallery!

IDW Publishing authorized Editorial Kamite to publish BTTF comic issues in Spanish in Mexico. As of February 5th, 2018, they have released the first 9 issues. You can check out their official website here.

In all, there are 13 covers for #1, 4 for #2, 3 for #3, 2 for #4, 2 for #5, 2 for #6, 2 for #7, 2 for #8, and 2 for #9.

There are only a few differences between these and their IDW counterparts. 3-B and 5-B have lines on the covers that are in Spanish. 1-L, 1-I, 3-C, and 1-H have no retail marks. 1-D and 1-G are kind of new covers. And if you examine closely, the price tag’s (where they would be on IDW’s original covers) are left blank on Kamite’s.

The CONQUE cover was exclusively released at Conque on May 5, 2017. It looks the same as 1-F and IDW’s but has a CONQUE mark on the left bottom corner.

All the covers are by the same artist’s as the IDW releases.

IDW Publishing authorizes Italy Comics to publish BTTF trade paperback in Italian.

Three TPB Vol.1, two TPB Vol.2, four TPB Vol.3, and two TPB Citizen Brown.

Titled “RITORNO AL FUTURO”. Dimensions are smaller than IDW’s TPB.

After an apparently successful ‘boomstarter’ (like Kickstarter) in Russia, IDW Publishing authorized Другого Издательства (‘Other Publishers’) to publish the BTTF trade paperback Vol.1 in Russia. The link to the boomstarter can be found here (all in Russian of course, including the video on the page about the fund raiser), however I have taken the time to translate all you need to know right here in the collector’s guide!

What to know:

• The Boomstarter raised 426,430 ₽ (Rubles) out of the original 260,000 ₽ that was initially asked for (164% raised). This money was raised by a total of 522 backers, and ended on July 12th, 2017.
• Due to the extreme low print runs on a couple of the covers printed, only those who backed the fund raiser will own them. This makes the Russian prints now the rarest issues to come by for BTTF Comic Collectors around the world.
• This Boomstarter had 9 reward levels that could be backed:
  1. 300 ₽ – Trade Paperback Volume 1, Standard Cover. Release date of August 2017. This reward level sold to 278 backers.
  2. 650 ₽ – Trade Paperback Volume 1, Standard Cover + the backer gets their name on a special Thank You page inside the book. Release date of August 2017. This reward level was limited to only 50 backers and sold out completely.
  3. 700 ₽ – Trade Paperback Volume 1, ‘Marty’ Cover. Release date of August 2017. This reward level was limited to only 100 backers and sold to 53 backers.
  4. 750 ₽ – Trade Paperback Volume 1, Standard Cover + a set of stickers from illustrator Red’MAD + a limited poster from CHUP ART. Release date of August 2017. This reward level was limited to only 100 backers and sold to 70 backers.
  5. 750 ₽ – Trade Paperback Volume 1, ‘Starcon Festival’ Cover + a limited poster from the AK Gallery. Release date of August 2017. This reward level was limited to only 15 backers and sold out completely.
  6. 1500 ₽ – Trade Paperback Volume 1, ‘Scott Campbell’ Cover. Release date of August 2017. This reward level was limited to only 50 backers and sold out completely.
  7. 2500 ₽ – Trade Paperback Volume 1, ‘Delorean’ Cover + a set of stickers from illustrator Red’MAD + a limited poster from CHUP ART + the backer gets their name on a special Thank You page inside the book. Release date of August 2017. This reward level was limited to only 25 backers and sold out completely.
  8. 10000 ₽ – Retailer Reward, 50 copies of Trade Paperback Volume 1, Standard Cover. Release date of August 2017. This reward level was limited to only 10 backers and sold to 9 backers.
  9. 18000 ₽ – Retailer Reward, 100 copies of Trade Paperback Volume 1, Standard Cover. Release date of August 2017. This reward level was limited to only 10 backers and sold to 8 backers.

The fourth cover is new by Artist Глеба Мельникова. The second cover is limited to 25 copies, and the third cover is limited to 50 copies.

IDW Publishing has authorized Novo Século Editora and Geektopia to publish a Portuguese version of  the BTTF TPB Vol.1 in Brazil. Titled “De Volta para o Futuro: Aventuras nunca vistas e linhas do tempo alternativas”. The release date was October 20th, 2017.

Also in Brazil, Alliance Comics released the first three issues translated in Portuguese in digital copy form (NOT print).

The release dates were:

• Issue #1: September 14th, 2016
• Issue #2: November 7th, 2016
• Issue #3: February 16th, 2017
