MaltyBlog #7: Malty Monday!, 4/17/23

Small MaltyCollects update this week, and a look at what’s happening with the SRP! It’s MaltyMonday!

Added 6 new books to the collection. Starting with ‘Masters of the Universe: Masterverse’ #3A, 3B, and 3C.

Description:

“Tensions rise as the Sorceress of Grayskull shows Zodac heroes influenced by He-Man from across the multiverse. In an Eternia ravaged by war and left shattered, a Goddess known as Teela must free the Beast Man shaman from a tribe of superstitious barbarians. And when a drunken group of explorers who jokingly call themselves Masters of the Universe run ashore on the Isle of Gray Skulls, they must decide if saving a captured sorceress is as important as procuring loot.”

A new publisher in the collection this week with the addition of ‘Codename: Ric Flair’ from Scout Comics. This comic has a whopping 15 covers, and I found 3 of them (1A, B, and C).

Description:

“THE NATURE BOY RIC FLAIR, the Rolex wearing, diamond ring wearing, kiss stealing, wheelin’ dealin’,limousine ridin’ jet flyin’ son of a gun who is regarded by many as the greatest professional wrestler of all time, finally has his own comic series. This brand-new original comic details his fact-or-fiction forays as an international superspy in the 1980s and 1990s. The series purports that Flair, who did in fact travel around the world for wrestling matches, was also a secret agent for the US government, using his persona as the ultimate wrestling heel as the perfect cover. Codename Ric Flair: Magic Eightball follows one of Flair’s missions in the late 1980’s.”

If the idea of Flair being a spy sounds ridiculous, it absolutely is. It’s also a very fun read lol!

You can find all of these updates and view the other 2,000 plus items in my collection over at MaltyCollects!

SRP Update

The first part (in what I am sure will be many many parts) of the SRP was posted here yesterday, and I just wanted to touch on a few things as the project continues forward. If you missed the first part of the SRP, you can find it here: The SRP Part 1: The World Of Krypton.

Read Time Vs. Blog Time

While it only took an hour to read the 4 comics included in yesterdays post, it took 2-3 hours to write everything and cut/crop/paste all of the ‘screenshots’ from the comics. In other words, the SRP posts will take a lot of time and work to put together. With that said, a HUGE thank you if you read the whole post! Also know that while I am actively progressing with the project, there is currently no set schedule for their releases. The SRP is only one of MANY projects I am working on, and along with my personal life, I am very busy. Having a lot of fun, but busy. They will be released as soon as I can get them together. 🙂

Time Jumps

One would think that to start a Post Crisis read through, I would start with Byrne’s ‘Man Of Steel’ limited series from 1987. That would be incorrect, as we saw in yesterdays post. While I will always try very hard to stick with original release order for the books, some were released years later that actually take place before Man Of Steel (or during it).

The next part coming in the SRP is ‘The Kents’ released in 1997 – 1998. While years past the Man Of Steel series in terms of release dates, the story itself takes place before it (the old west). Hello time jumps! So basically I will stay with original release dates whenever possible, but also keeping the stories in chronological order at the same time.

I Don’t Like To Read Blogs! Where Are The Videos?

The fact is, a lot of people simply don’t like to read (so again thank you if you read the first part of the SRP yesterday!). There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s a personal preference. However at some point, yes there will be video versions of these SRP posts. Once I get some formatting nailed down the way I like it, video’s will start to appear on my YouTube channel. If you haven’t already, you can find and subscribe to my channel here: The Malty Gamer On YouTube.

That’s all for MaltyMonday! I have some comics to go read now, and will back in a few days with… something. I am always writing, so who knows what’s coming next. 😉

Till Next time, be good to each other and Game On!

Each blog post will end with a random Music Video, because TMG ❤’s MvM

  1. That’s one of the reasons I keep talking myself out of blogging: it’s very time consuming to do it the ways I want to do it! Kudos to you for putting in the effort! ☺️

How are the Masterverse comics, so far?

    1. Blogging can be time consuming. I try to find ways to make the process easier but I definitely understand what you mean.

The comics are awesome! I love the different versions of these classic characters. The whole multiverse concept works really well in MOTU!

      Thanks for the comment! 😊
