MaltyBlog #2: The Blog About A Blog

I would like to take some time to talk about this blog and where it’s heading. Why have I reopened this website after nearly 2 years? Well to answer that question, I needed to write a blog… about a blog. It’s a blog inception.

What’s There To Write About?

I am a guy who is always thinking about my fandoms, hobbies, and interests. I can’t ever seem to shut my brain off. This normally would not be a big problem, except for the fact that on the normal day to day there usually isn’t anyone around to talk to about half the stuff I have on my nerdy little mind. There are definitely times where I have a lot of friends to chat with but more often than not, my thoughts stay locked in my head with no way out.

Over the last couple years, the amount of thoughts and creative ideas have built up to the point where I needed to find an outlet. I am a very creative person by nature, and it’s a gift I didn’t want to waste anymore. That’s when I had a eureka moment, and remembered… “Hey Malty! You have a website for blogs! Maybe you should use that!”

Yes, I internally yelled at myself. Don’t worry, I am ok now lol.

Blogging was always a fantastic way for me to get my thoughts and ideas ‘on paper’ as it were, and I had a lot of fun with it in the past. This website started to gain life, it grew… then it died. It became abandoned. I started to feel like no one was really interested in what I had to write, and discouragement followed. Looking back at it now with a fresh perspective, I was so very wrong.

Some People Still Read Blogs

This blog has always had readers. Some I know personally, some I have never met. Based on the current stats on this website, I was still getting visitors over the near 2 years I was absent here. There is certainly people out there that not only like to write, but also enjoy reading what others have constructed. I also never realized how important Google was to getting a reach out there. I have many hits to a Sega blog I wrote for example, simply because people searched a Sega topic on Google and my post came up. That’s exposure. Something at the time I didn’t know I had.

Of course the biggest boost to the stats on this website is and always has been the BTTF Collector’s guide. That is a beast of it’s own though and a topic for another day.

Some People Don’t Like To Read

With all of that said, I still understand that in today’s age of TikTok, YouTube and quick video ‘stories’, people prefer to get their information in small fast video bites. Nothing to focus on, easy to absorb, and then move on to the next thing. The birth of TL;DR. Simply put, some people don’t like to read. Takes too long in a world where attention spans are sadly shrinking, and access to information needs to be ‘fun’ and ‘quick’. I can respect that, and I can understand that. Times change. I have realized that I need to adapt to these changes. But not 100%.

Vlogs

Yes, I have thought about making videos. In fact you can safely bet that I will do so in the near future. As I revamp this website, and start getting my ideas ‘on paper’, I also have written things out for future Vlogs and other videos. This will be a way for me to reach the non readers, and those who just prefer easy to digest content. And hell, making videos are a ton of fun! But I can’t do that all the time.

I love to write. It truly helps me get through my days, and acts almost like an e-journal if you will. One that I have made very public. Not everything I write is video caliber, and sometimes I will need to continue writing blogs for my own mental health. It’s fun for me, and I know there’s still an audience for it.

But what if there was no one reading my posts at all? What if no one watches my videos? Well…

Everything Is Going To Be Ok

It will all be ok. I had to take some much needed time to really think about the why’s. Why do I write? Why do I create? I finally came to the realization that I am only doing this for one reason… to make me happy. Selfish maybe, but I don’t really care lol. I won’t be a guy who does things to get praise and attention from others (if I do it’s just a bonus), and I want to do what makes me happy. Being a creator in any sense, makes me happy. That’s my world and the bubble I have made for myself. Life is way too short and valuable to worry about if someone likes something I created or not. Like the saying goes, opinions are like… well you know.

I know there are people (friends included), who don’t read my posts, and will most likely never read this one. That’s ok. Some may see this, and not enjoy it at all. That’s also ok. It’s for me. I’m just happy to share it with all of you 🙂

The Wrap Up

Did you read this all the way through? Do you have any comments to make good, bad or otherwise? If so, please let me know down below in the comments section at the bottom of this page. If not, that’s ok also. I just appreciate that you took the time to read this. No matter how much I say it doesn’t matter, it does really mean a lot to me.

This is just the beginning. Or the new beginning as it were. TMG is making it’s comeback, and will be around for a long time to come. I can’t wait to see what I can accomplish in 2023!

Till Next time, be good to each other and Game On!

Each blog post will end with a random Music Video, because TMG ❤’s MvM

  1. You and I think very similar about what we create and think, but you actually take the time to create and put things down on paper. I’ve always admired that, so that’s why I always like reading your blogs! 😁

I’m glad you’re starting up again!
