On This Day In Gaming History!: April 8th, 2018

Baroque was a role-playing video game developed and published by Sting Entertainment, released in Japan for the Sega Saturn on May 21, 1998. A remake version for PlayStation 2 was released in North America on April 8th, 2008 by Atlus.

The objective of Baroque is to guide the nameless amnesiac player character through the Neuro Tower to the bottom floor. Randomly generated, the majority of the layouts of the Neuro Tower’s floors change each time the player ventures inside. Portals found on each floor of the tower will transport the player to the next floor.

Baroque received mixed reviews, with a combined score on GameRankings of 53% for the Wii version and 58% for the PS2 version. The most common complaint focused on the game’s extreme difficulty curve.
